Damping Sound Insulation Board
Damping sound insulation panels are professional-grade three-layer composite sound insulation materials, employing a "sandwich" constrained damping structure: two layers of high-density inorganic panels + a middle high-polymer damping viscoelastic layer, integrally molded under high temperature and pressure. Core principle: When sound waves impact the panel and cause vibration, the middle damping layer undergoes shear deformation, converting sound energy into heat energy for dissipation. This solves the problem of poor low-frequency resonance sound insulation in ordinary wall panels, making it a mainstream material for comprehensive treatment of airborne sound and impact sound. The main substrates are divided into three types: magnesium oxide board, calcium silicate board, and magnesium oxysulfate board. The whole is a Class A non-combustible inorganic board, which is formaldehyde-free, waterproof and moisture-proof, and is widely used in noise reduction projects such as KTV, hotels, computer rooms, residential partition walls, and recording studios.

PRODUCT DETAILS
Three-Layer Structure of the Board
1. Surface Layer (High-Density Inorganic Substrate): High-density board made of magnesium oxide/calcium silicate, with high surface density, forming the first sound barrier while ensuring Class A fire resistance, waterproofing, moisture resistance, and structural strength.
2. Core Damping Layer (Key Sound Insulation Layer): High-polymer environmentally friendly damping adhesive/butyl damping felt, suppressing board resonance, significantly improving low-frequency sound insulation, and eliminating "sound insulation dips."
3. Back Layer (Symmetrical Inorganic Substrate): High-density board of the same material as the surface layer, balancing stress, preventing board warping, and forming a double-layer high-quality sound insulation structure.
Production Process:
Inorganic board raw material proportioning → pulping and molding → autoclaving → board cutting → damping material coating → upper and lower board assembly → high-temperature and high-pressure composite pressing → constant temperature stable curing → sanding and leveling → precision cutting → quality inspection of sound insulation → packaging and warehousing.
Core Performance Advantages
✅ Advantages
1. High-efficiency sound insulation across the entire frequency range, with outstanding low-frequency performance: A single-layer 12mm board achieves a weighted sound insulation of ≥45dB; double-layer hollow partition walls can achieve 58~62dB of sound insulation, effectively isolating human voices, audio noise, equipment vibration, and floor impact noise, superior to ordinary gypsum board partition walls.
2. Class A non-combustible, meeting fire safety inspection standards: The inorganic substrate is entirely non-combustible, producing no smoke or toxic gases, allowing commercial projects such as shopping malls, entertainment venues, and hospitals to pass fire safety inspections smoothly.
3. Waterproof, moisture-proof, and mold-resistant: The dense magnesium oxide/calcium silicate substrate does not absorb water, making it suitable for long-term use in basements, humid coastal environments, and dry areas of kitchens and bathrooms, with sound insulation performance unaffected by moisture.
4. Thin and space-saving, shortening construction time: A 12mm single-layer board achieves the sound insulation effect of double-layer gypsum board + sound insulation cotton, reducing the partition wall thickness by more than 30%; dry screw fixing eliminates the need for multiple layers, doubling construction efficiency.
5. Zero Formaldehyde & Environmentally Friendly: Inorganic board material + environmentally friendly damping layer, no glue volatilization, achieving E0/ENF level, suitable for enclosed spaces such as residences, schools, and hospital wards.
6. Strong Surface Compatibility: The board surface is smooth and flat, allowing direct application of putty, latex paint, wallpaper, and wood veneer without affecting the interior decoration effect.
⚠️ Disadvantages:
1. The board is relatively heavy and has a high surface density, requiring denser joists for ceiling installation to increase load-bearing capacity.
2. The cost is higher than ordinary gypsum board; the damping composite process increases costs.
3. The board is hard and brittle; cutting requires a cutting machine, and improper joint treatment can easily create sound bridges, reducing sound insulation.
4. Lower-priced asphalt-damped versions may have a slight odor and are prone to oil seepage at high temperatures, making them unsuitable for interior decoration.
Applicable Scenarios
1. Entertainment Venues: KTV rooms, bars, nightclubs, cinema partition walls and ceilings;
2. Hotels and Guesthouses: Guest room partition walls, corridor soundproofing to prevent crosstalk;
3. Educational Acoustic Spaces: Music rooms, recording studios, classrooms, conference rooms, broadcasting studios;
4. Residential Noise Reduction: Partition walls, floor soundproofing, home theaters, bedroom soundproofing upgrades;
5. Industrial Machine Rooms: Pump rooms, equipment rooms, power distribution rooms vibration reduction and sound insulation;
6. Humid Environments: Basements, coastal projects, container cabin soundproofing walls.
Key Points for Selection and Identification
1. Examine the cross-section structure: Qualified boards have clear three-layer boundaries, with two substrate layers and a black damping layer in the middle; those without a middle layer are counterfeit ordinary high-density boards.
2. Check the test reports: Always request ASTM E90/ISO10140 sound insulation test reports and Class A fire resistance reports issued by authoritative institutions. Don't rely solely on verbal data.
3. Differentiate the damping material: For home decoration, prioritize high-polymer butyl damping layers, which are odorless; for commercial projects, rubber damping is a low-cost option, but be cautious with asphalt damping boards (they are prone to oiling and have a strong odor).
4. Check the composite quality: The board surface should be flat and free of warping, the three layers should be tightly bonded, and the sound when tapped should be solid, without hollow or rattling sounds.
5. Choose the thickness according to needs: 12mm is suitable for ordinary residential partition walls; 15mm or double-layer 12mm boards are suitable for high-noise environments such as KTVs and computer rooms.
Technical Specifications for Foreign Trade Export
1. The base material is inorganic magnesium oxide/calcium silicate board, containing no wood fiber. Export to the EU does not require EUDR timber traceability, simplifying customs clearance.
2. Export testing items: Airborne sound insulation (ISO 10140), Class A non-combustible testing, RoHS environmental protection, formaldehyde-free, and VOC testing.
3. Applicable overseas projects: Soundproofing for overseas guesthouses, bars, KTVs, server rooms, and soundproofing retrofitting of container houses.
4. Packaging requirements: The boards are thick and prone to edge chipping; corner protectors, film coating, and pallet packaging are mandatory. Stacking height must be controlled to prevent crushing and delamination.
Key Installation Points (Ensuring Sound Insulation)
1. Vibration-damping keel must be used to eliminate rigid sound bridges;
2. Leave a 2-3mm expansion joint between panels, and fill the gap with sound-insulating sealant to prevent sound leakage;
3. Double-layer wall panels must be installed with staggered joints, avoiding straight gaps between upper and lower layers;
4. Seal all screw points and holes tightly.
